Well, I just think it's pretty cool of him to get something like that in a show.[/QB]
I see what you mean. I just feel that beat-boxing (emulating drum sounds with your mouth) is something that has been used far too much. Personally I find it a clown act of him. This started with rap music and thats where it should stay in my opinion.

one word:

CHEESY!!!

But they had a large enough budget to pull it off and make it look cool.

As for the Billy Asbaugh vid... man, Justin Timberlake is THE WORST beatbox guy I have EVER heard! If I was Rhazel or someone of that stature, I would get my boyz to make him a pair of cement shoes.

Werd.

P.S. I could see how these "drum battles" would impress either metalheads or little girls. You want to see real drum battles... start going back in time. WAY BACK!

The Justin/Billy battle... LOVE IT!!! I have that DVD and i love Billy's playing, i love that they game him some
And i second Dr. funkenstein's observation... that girl WAS hot... <--- and i will leave it there!
I thought it was quite entertaining, seeing the vocalist and drummer from a metal band go at it. They did exactly what they should have done for their audience, it was right up their alley and i think it was pretty cool in that context. Just another reminder to me that i can get a kick out of something that isn't a chops-fest.
Plus that girl in the orange was hot!

Plus the vocalist didn't do too shabby playing the drums... when he mentioned he played drums, i didn't give it too much cred. He could play for alot of the bands out there (in this genre) and be better than what they have already... as far as metal bands and hard rock bands on the radio, i think he would be BETTER than 80% of their drummers!

good point matricks. I let my pessimism get the best of me once again (I learned this from a guy you might know named Dazzler)

I too was impressed with the "vocalist's" drumming... he was just as good as Shannon, and I really don't see what all the hype is about with him anyways... esp after this. Nice octoban... that was hot.

WOW. THAT WAS FANTASTIC! i wouldn't rip on the bassist that much. frankly i though he did a really good job. i loved the whole piece from beginning to end. it really held onto me and homages towards the end (which i loved the most) was just great. very inspiring. yeah, i didn't know sully was such a great player. their groove at the beginning was so tasteful. i love how shannon incorporated the octoban during that initial groove and ended each phrase with a china. really hooky. kudos to both. i've never heard godsmack's stuff before, but this solo really makes me want to get the dvd of this show. i believe i read a MD update where shannon actually left the band a while ago. perhaps he's back.
lastly, wasn't their rythm section just tight? i thought they were great as well.

Aw, Dazz's awright...he's just the resident, take-no-prisoners critic [only after a breu-har-har or so! ;cP]...that doesn't necessarily make him "Head-HOD Cynic"...

Siskel, Ebert, Roper, & Dazz - "I give it a 2 thumbs down for musical statement content " ...& 1 BIG thumbs UP [-somewhere or something] for mega-chops!

The band sounded well rehearsed... catchy for that genre of music. I saw them live once, but i don't remember... that was in my havin' too much fun days, er, daze...
And as for Chris... i am a vampire, my neighbors love my 2am drum practice sessions. Thank God they do alot of meth or else they might have the mind to call the police on me
Oh, and there is nothing like seeing Fuse posting on one of my topics... makes me feel as if i've "made it"
